It was in the 1970s that Pat fully engaged and merged her personal and professional lives, as she committed to helping conserve the Great Plains’ visual, historic – and endangered –culture.  She became enjoined in a long-standing attempt to create a “tallgrass national prairie” that would honor and sustain what little was left of a unique ecosystem that once had encompassed what today are several states across the Great Plains.  (more)
