Robert Indiana
Am. b. 1928

A long time resident of Vinalhaven, Maine, Robert Indiana is best-known for his iconic image LOVE and is currently receiving renewed attention for the Barack Obama inspired image HOPE.

During the summer of 2009 the Farnsworth Art Museum will host a major exhibition of Indiana's work entitled "Robert Indiana and the Star of Hope."  A highlight of the exhibition will be the sculpture "EAT" which Indiana created for the 1964 World's Fair and which has not been exhibited since then.
