The Woody Dana Collection
Woody Dana was a regular presence in the galleries and other art-displaying businesses in the downtown Portland area, although he collected in Boston, New York, San Francisco, and other locations as well. It was his staunch support for local artists, however, that set him apart as a collector. Indeed, he was referred to by local artists as “the patron saint of Congress Street" for his generous support over the years. At the time of his death in 2006 his collection exceeded 300 works.
