LEO
BROOKS
Am. 1909 - 1993
A photographer whose works are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Leo Brooks became a well-known Maine watercolorist late in his life. His obituary in the New York Times provides an appropriate snapshot, "Man of strong conviction and good humor, lover of life, artist par excellence, warm and generous friend to many."
For a more detailed biographical essay, take a look at the excellent article by Edgar Allen Beem in the August 2009 edition of Down East magazine.
