LYNNE
MAPP
DREXLER
Am. 1928-1999
Lynne Drexler was one of Monhegan's early abstract expressionist painters. She studied with Hans Hofmann and Robert Motherwell. Her paintings are included in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, the Portland Museum of Art and the Farnsworth Art Museum.
The Farnsworth Art Museum currently has an exhibition of Lynne's paintings entitled, "Lynne Drexler: Color Notes." The exhibition runs through January 12, 2025.
The Monhegan Museum had a show of 50 of her works from July 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008 and the show moved to the Portland Museum of Art from December 6, 2008 to March 1, 2009. An entirely new exhibition of Lynne's paintings took place during the spring and summer of 2009 at the Palmina & Stephen Pace Gallery of Art at Fryeburg Academy.
One of Lynne's spectacular large abstract works was prominently featured in Architectural Digest's 2015 article on singer-songwriter John Legend's and model Christine Teigen's Manhattan apartment.
We are very pleased to offer these paintings from several private collections. We also have other representational works by Lynne on our other website featuring work by Monhegan artists.
