Reggie Burrows Hodges burst onto the international art scene in October 2021, when his painting For the Greater Good (pictured above) sold for slightly over $600,000 at a Philips London auction.  Since then, six more of his paintings have sold at auction at prices in excess of $500,000 and five more in excess of $100,000.

Mr. Hodges was born in California in 1965 and found his way to Maine in 2008.  In 2019, he took part in three Maine residency programs: the Pace House Residency, the Ellis Beauregard Foundation Residency and the Monson Arts Residency.   In 2020, he was awarded the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, an important national award given to fifteen artists annually. While in Maine he developed his style to the one for which he is now most well-known - the faceless Black figures in a variety of venues.  The painting we have for sale is from 2017 prior to his 2019 evolution into his current style.
